Community Embroidery Blanket

Back in 2016 Rachael Prime was asked to take part in Halton Libraries first Fun Palace, a project to help encourage art and science within the community. She then started the Community Embroidery Blanket created with multiple participants creating an embroidered panel obeying these three simple rules:

  • Use 15cm x 15cm cream back ground

  • Use only three pieces of fabric to appliqué

  • Use on two different coloured thread.

After running the session at Halton Library Rachael went on to run a number of different workshops over the next three year and collected 66 different panels, the youngest being 3 years old.

The finished work is a homage to the people who created it and the conversations they had while making it.
